Benefits of Restorative Yoga

Whether you’re a beginner just starting out, or an experienced yogi looking to expand your practise, all yoga students will surely reap the benefits of a Restorative Yoga class. The class explores the alignment of the body and mind – practising stillness, gentle movement and allowing yourself to just…be.

Restorative yoga is known for deeply relaxing the body and stilling the mind. The class is slower paced and encourages students to cultivate space for a deeper experience. Studies have shown that we’re only able to engage in our experiences when we are in this state.

Soothes the nervous system

Your restorative practise utilizes the nervous system to restore your mind/body balance. Slow, deep and intentional breath activates the parasympathetic nervous system – making you both calm and deeply relaxed. This optimizes energy flow throughout your entire body leaving you feeling calm and at ease.

Increased body awareness

Sadly, many of us lack body awareness. Your restorative practise will allow you to explore and embrace your sense of self love and acceptance. Experience the use of props so that you can feel supported, relaxed and open the body gently.
Restorative Yoga is an excellent class for all yoga students – including beginners, experienced yogis, runners and those with injuries.
