Team sports do more than keep children fit – they provide a plethora of life lessons and skills that are essential to social and developmental health. Studies have shown that children who are a part of a team sport grow up to be more well-rounded adults. Read more about our Dance Team here.
Teamwork & Sportsmanship
As Aristotle once said, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” That being said, a team is only as strong as its weakest link. Children involved in team sports quickly learn the importance of working alongside their peers to reach a common goal, regardless of whether or not they get along with their teammates. Team sports teach children the importance of sportsmanship, how to build friendships and how to be empathetic – as they are often exposed to peers of a different culture, race and/or financial status.
Of course, the team won’t always come out on top, but loss can teach your child the true importance of perseverance and never giving up – a challenge they can overcome as a group.
We live in a busy time. Children who are a part of a team sport quickly learn the importance of time management. Balancing school and homework, personal life and extracurricular activities becomes crucial, especially as children get older. Children who dance are able to learn the healthy life balance required to be successful – a skill that many adults are still trying to master.
Stress Relief & Support
A dance team provides a safe place and support system for your child. A place where children can have fun and leave all of their worry and stress at the door. Like minded teammates and teachers serve as a vital support system for players, and they can actually aid in building a child’s self esteem inside and outside of the studio.
